876 rooms, pool, spa, sauna, basketball and tennis court, 2 conference rooms. Two towers (37 & 38 stories tall) from 1979. Parking is $8 per day--a good deal by Waikiki standards. This resort seems geared toward families. They allow up to 5 people per room. There's even a playground next to the pool on the 6th floor, and when kids under 12 arrive, they're given a beach-related grab bag. They also lend children's books and have kids' videos for rent. If you're in Tower 2, you want a room ending in 12 or 14; otherwise, the view is totally dominated by Tower 1. Some of their category descriptions seem overly optimistic. (Ocean view? How you figga?) Rooms have fairly no-frills furnishings. There's one thing that got under our skin. They have bbq grills available, but you'll have to bring quarters, because they're coin-operated. Yeah, it's minor, but it's annoying. In general, the resort is not a bad place for families, but child-free travelers might want to look elsewhere. One long block to the beach. 1/1s (535 sq. ft.) are $215-$285.
