93 rooms, 2 pools, kitchenettes (but oddly no coffee makers except in "Ali'i Level" rooms), free continental breakfast by the pool. Built in 1955, this and the Breakers next door are the last of a dying breed--low-rise buildings (the tallest only 3 stories) scattered around the grounds. Units are somewhat dreary and worn, but clean. Many of the guests are long-time repeats who gather round the pools to chat. Price isn't bad considering all rooms have kitchenettes. As an older hotel you'll have older annoyances--such as wildly and instantly fluctuating shower water temperatures (yeow!) and insufficient power outlets. Their claim of an "all-Hawaiian staff" didn't exactly match our observations. 2 blocks to the beach. Parking is $15 extra per day and is across the street. Rooms are $125-$235. Don't pay extra for views; it's not worth it, and go for a 2nd floor unit if you can--a bit quieter.
