The best selling guide to O'ahu... Oahu Revealed "My family and I recently returned from a trip to Oahu. We had a wonderful vacation, our best family vacation ever! And some of this is due to the information we received in Oahu Revealed. By reading your book before traveling to the Islands, we were able to determine where we wanted to go and what we wanted to do. Because vacations are never "long enough", time is precious. But with Oahu Revealed we were able to easily travel around the island with your accurate maps without getting lost once. Also, due to your honest review we were able to get the most for our time and money. We knew which attractions and beaches were the best and which restaurants were the best..Again, thank you for taking the time to research and write a valuable resource. We will definitely use your books again when we return to the Islands. We only wish you reviewed additional locations around the world!" |
Embassy Suites Waikiki Beach Walk (800) 362-2779 or (808) 921-2345 201 Beachwalk SORRY! We don't have an aerial of the Embassy yet, but we will soon! 421 suites, pool, keiki pool, spa, fitness room, 5 restaurants, 40 shops, 3 conference rooms, business center, valet-only parking, coffee maker with free coffee daily, room service, free hi-speed Internet access in rooms, free Wi-Fi resort-wide, lanais on most. This resort opened in 2007 and is made up of two 21-story towers that sit on top of the Waikiki Beach Walk shopping center. The Hula tower is closest to the water and the Aloha tower will have most of its ocean views blocked by the Trump Tower building when it is completed in 2009. The resort doesn't feel like a contemporary Hawaiian resort. Instead it has your stereotypical 'ukuleles and pineapples on the hall carpets and rooms with bland color schemes. The lobby area has an awkward and uninviting arrangement; half of it is a driveway with some benches to sit on while you wait for your car. The other half is a small sitting area with check-in desks. It's $25 for valet-only parking. The suites themselves are not overly large at 416-550 sq. ft. for a one bedroom and they have no closets, just one armoire for your clothes. The best views are from the Hula tower's end-facing rooms above the 19th floor, which can peer over the Halekulani Resort. The Embassy based their view designations on whether or not you can see the ocean from the sofa. (Cool, we wish all resorts did that.) The mini bar area has microwave and fridge, but no utensils or plates to use. The pool deck on the 4th floor feels crowded with too many lounge chairs. They did make an effort to include free extras such as the 24-hour business and fitness rooms, local and mainland long distance calls, in-room hi-speed Internet, room safes, hot breakfasts, and nightly drinks by the pool. (No blender drinks though.) Rack rates seem high to us at $399-$469 for a one-bedroom and $549-$649 for a (700 sq. ft.) two-bedroom suite. Most do not pay the rack rate however, some good deals can knock as much as $150 off that rack price. Since breakfast is included, they charge $40 per person for extra adults in a suite, so gorge yourself to make it worth your while. A few minutes' walk to the beach. |
