Updates To 2nd Edition It happens every time. The day after we send the disks off to the printers for our brand new edition, somebody changes something that directly affects what we write in the book. Several times we've e-mailed these changes to the printers (it's our only chance to yell that classic publisher line, "Stop the presses!") but after the presses roll we're left shaking our heads, saying, "Yeah, we know that changed. We'll correct that in our next printing." The internet is the next best thing to yanking back all the books in print and scribbling in the changes that always occur. The updates below are for the 2nd edition of Oahu Revealed. If you would like to read updates to the current 3rd edition, please click the UPDATES link above. Did you know? At Wizard Publications we continually strive to bring you the most up-to-date and accurate information on the islands. We are the only publisher who updates our books every time we reprint them. So if you see the updates below already listed in the book you just bought, you may have a recent printing. • • • • • Aloha Airlines (metioned in the Basics chapter) is out of business and those holding tickets with them might be out of luck. Check their website for more information: www.alohaairlines.com. Tradewinds Rental Car (page 23) changed its name to Advantage with the same phone number and then closed its operation on Oahu. The Hawai'i Maritime Center (page 33 & 114) phone number changed to 808-521-2829. Sunset on the Beach (page 56) has a new number. It's 808-923-1094. Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve (page 63) has raised entrance fees to $7.50 per person. Children under 13 and Hawaii residents (with proof of residency) free. Parking is still $1 per car. Deep Blue (page 165) we have not been able to reach in a while and their Web site is pau, so we think they may be as well. Boom Boom (page 165) is running out of Ko Olina only. Heli USA (page 172) is not operating on O'ahu at the moment. Aloha Parasail (page 201) is no longer doing parasailing. Diamond Head Divers (page 202) has a new phone number 808-224-2770. They had no set date to reopen and their answering machine says, "later this year", so keep calling 'em. Homemade Ice Cream/Flavormania (in the Dining chapter) changed their name to Scoop of Paradise and their phone number to 808-637-3456. Sea Life Park (in the Dining Chapter) no longer offers a lu'au. The following restaurants (in the Dining chapter) have closed: Amy's Kahuku Shrimp, Angel's Ice Cream, Beachside Cafe, Bistro at Century Center, Dixie Grill (on Ward Ave.), Island Shack, Palomino Euro Bistro, Paradise Cafe, Sushi Kai, Trellisses, Legend Seafood (in Waikiki), Taste of New York Deli & Market, Chef's Table, Run Sushi & Ramen, Times Coffee Shop (in Kane'ohe) and Chocolate Sushi (in Kailua). Sadly a Hawaii legend passed away on April 14, 2007. Aloha and a hui ho, Don. The Don Ho Show mentioned on page 260 has been cancelled. Properties on Oahu change hands like in the game Monopoly. So from our Where To Stay chapter we decided to update that entire portion of the website with new photos and reviews, too. Many resorts closed, many others changed names, and still others are under new management. Please go to the RESORT AERIALS & REVIEWS link at the top of this page for the current listings.
