"I have read my share of Maui books but this one was the most helpful! We almost wore out the condo copy. We purchased a new one in Ma'alaea to take with us so that each of our group had one. As we were purchasing the second copy, a gal leaned over and whispered that Maui Revealed  was the best Maui book on the shelf today. You must be commended on such a detailed, fun to read, book. I always thought books should be written exactly like you have somehow managed to do, but always figured that no one, and I mean no one, would ever take the time to research and put all the details onto paper. I look forward to reading about the other islands. Thank you so much."

310 rooms, pool and keiki pool, 2 spas, free fitness center, hi-speed Internet access in rooms, Wi-Fi, 2 conference rooms, free valet parking, child care program, day spa, vcrs upon request, 5 restaurants, laundry facilities, empty refrigerators, 6 tennis courts (4 lighted), room service, wedding coordinator. This is probably the most subdued resort in South Maui. It's not actually in Wailea, but rather on its own, farther south in Makena. In fact it's the last resort--literally--in South Maui. Maui Prince rarely has a crowded feel, even when it's full. That's partially because you're less likely to spend as much time at the resort than at some others in Wailea. The pool area is decidedly low key. You won't find waterslides and rope swings, but you won't find it too crowded either. Their beach, Maluaka beach, is a winner and shared with no other resort. There is a boat, the Kai Kanani, that leaves directly from the resort beach and heads to Molokini; very convenient. The snorkeling off the left side of the beach is excellent, and many boats bring paying passengers here. (It's one of their so-called turtle towns.)

No all-encompassing resort fee here. Though services aren't overly abundant, they do tend to lean toward providing most services free, like valet parking, daily coffee in the rooms, room safe, pool-side cabana chairs, 9-hole putting green, etc. (Local calls, however, are 75¢.) The child care program is $50 per day. Golfers get preferred rates and tee times at their golf courses.

Rooms are relatively simple and smallish at 433-515 sq. ft. (The tapered building means that the higher you go, the smaller the rooms.) Bathrooms are small. The rooms looked much fresher on this visit with new linens and drapes.

They have a free shuttle that takes you to Wailea so you can participate in the restaurant selection there and walk the beachside path without feeling totally cut off. The resort is relaxing and fairly quiet. Nice place to arrange a relaxing massage by the ocean.

The staff is very warm here. The resort was sold at press time, so some changes may be in the works. Rates are $380-$555. Suites (941-1,694 sq. ft.) are $700-$1,500. They have lots of packages, so it's unlikely you'll pay that.
