Maui Revealed: "I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for all of your suggestions in your book, Maui Revealed. My fiance and I just got back from Hawaii (literally) and had a fabulous time. We joked that your book had become the center piece to our daily activities in Maui... Thanks again, cant wait to come back!" |
Hotel Wailea Maui (800) 800-0720 or (808) 874-0500 555 Kaukahi St. ![]() 72 rooms, pool, keiki pool, day spa, sauna, fitness room, valet parking, restaurant, 24-hour business center, conference room, Wi-Fi or hi-speed Internet access in rooms and throughout the resort, free room safe, laundry facility, coffee maker with free daily coffee. This is the forgotten 15-acre Wailea resort. Most who live in South Maui have no idea that this place even exists. Instead of an oceanfront location, they’re up the hill, affording sweeping ocean views. Molokini and Kaho‘olawe look incredible from up here, and most rooms take advantage of these views. The resort was sold in 2007, and they have slowly been making upgrades and changes for the better. Nudity is required in the spa. (Don’t get too excited. It’s divided into male and female only.) The view from those baths is like none other we have seenan absolutely spectacular open-air ocean view along with specialty showers, such as waterfall and hydrotherapy. They even have Toto toilets that do...a lot for you that you’d normally do for yourself. They have a free shuttle to take you to areas of Wailea and the beach where they have someone who will supply you with a chair, umbrella and water. They share the Grand Wailea’s beach, and you have signing privileges at the spa and restaurants there, too. The rooms, which are all suites, are simple, clean, very spacious, and all have kitchenettes. The baths are large and combine the deep tub and shower into one efficient open space. The grounds are very quiet, serene and rarely crowded, even if they are full. The pool has some nice covered day beds around it that are free for guests. We have been to this resort at many times of the year and rarely find anyone in plain sight. That’s great if you want to get away from everyone. The manmade waterfall running on the property is really all you hear, and that has to be turned off at night because it is “too noisy” for some guests to sleep. They have a $20 mandatory resort fee that covers valet parking, continental breakfast in the lobby, Internet, spa usage and beach umbrellas/chairs. Self-parking is free, as are local calls. They have a manager’s drink night twice a week when guests tend to gather and watch the sunset. There are some steps leading to all suites. Rooms (a spacious 900 sq. ft.) are $379$525. |
