The best selling guide to Kaua'i... The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook: "THANK YOU!!!! You guys made our honeymoon on Kauai and Maui amazing. If it wasn't for your books we would have been at the mercy of the concierge sending us to all the tourist traps... These books were our bibles on each island. We can't wait to go back and see whatever we missed and hopefully by then there will be a new edition with more sights... Thanks again for a great publication. I am going to recommend your books to anyone I know that is going to Hawaii. Without your books we would not have experienced Hawaii." |
Koke'e Lodge (808) 335-6061 3600 Koke'e State Park ![]() 12 units, wood stove (wood is extra). "Very rustic" is the operative term here. These cabins are located 4,000 feet up in Koke'e State Park. Don't expect nightly turndown service or a mint on your pillow. This is roughing it Kaua'i-style, and these cabins are in big demand. A third of the guests are locals who come here because it's cheap, the area is chilly at night, and it's beautiful. Rooms usually come with several flimsy beds, a bare bones kitchen, hot shower, and that's about it. Think of it as camping with a roof. You may not get to sleep late, however. The ubiquitous roosters are like roving alarm clocks that go off at any time of day or night. The Lodge Restaurant is a good place to get some Koke'e chili and cornbread for lunch. Dinner isn't available, so arrange your own. Reservations should be obtained 9-12 months in advance. Cabins are $65-$90 per night for up to two people (they charge $5 per extra person). 5-night maximum stay. All rooms must be paid for in advance. Taxes and cleaning fees are extra. |
