203 rooms, 2 pools, restaurant, empty refrigerator, coin-op laundry. Oceanfront location next to the Coconut Marketplace and reasonable prices make this a popular hotel with tour package promoters. Many visitors are seniors who take advantage of senior discounts. Buildings are old and the furnishings worn. The Kaua'i Sands is a resort in transition. Bought by a timeshare company, the fate of the hotel was not known at press time and there is construction going on nearby for a housing development. Rooms are $145-$180 for studios, $190 for kitchenette. Lots of packages, so ask.
