The best selling guide to Kaua'i... The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook: "We had a great time, thanks in a large part to your books. They were my bible. I was so amazed at the accuracy, eg., at one of the beaches, if you go during the week you likely have it to yourself. We walked in and that is exactly what we had. I especially love the aerial views of the accommodations. And yes, I felt better after having tears in my eyes after do the helicopter ride with Jack Harter tours, that according to the book that was to be expected. Thanks for helping us have a great first trip to Hawaii, and I look forward to more great trips by using your guides." |
Coral Reef Resort (formerly Hotel Coral Reef) (800) 843-4659 or (808) 822-4481 4-1516 Kuhio Hwy. ![]() 21 rooms, pool, fitness room, sauna, bbq, air conditioning, refrigerators in king bed oceanfront units and 1 bedroom suites only, free room safes, coin-op laundry, lanais on all except suites. New owners renovated the rooms in 2006 and added upgrades including a new pool, sauna, fitness room, coffee makers with free coffee daily (in all but garden rooms) and phones in the rooms. (No Internet access, though.) They did a nice job upgrading the resort and giving the rooms a fresh tropical feel. The oceanfront units have new bathrooms with deep Jacuzzi tubs. We used to label them a solid gold value, but the price increase that came with the renovations, especially on the oceanfront building, cost them that rating. In fact, they now feel overpriced compared to other resorts in the area. Good oceanfront location, free coffee and pastries in the lobby in the mornings where you can "talk story" with other guests. Rooms (approx. 600 sq. ft.) are $125-$289, suites $199. All rooms are non-smoking. |
