6 rooms, shared lanais on most, free Wi-Fi and computers, hot tub, daily maid. Built in 1942, this inn is often called “Inn at Volcano” and is part of a larger collection of properties that have been through lots of changes over the years, sometimes good and sometimes not so good. For this edition we found current management really putting in the effort with some pleasing results, others not so much. The Continental Suite is a very romantic bridal suite with double Jacuzzi bathtub in the bathroom. The Treehouse Suite is two-story; a wooden spiral staircase leads to the bedroom with its dreamy view. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi bathtub and a fireplace in it. The bungalow is the most private. Though they have toned down some of the extra touches, they still offer an optional candle-lit continental breakfast for $6 and afternoon tea in the common area. The grounds are lush with a large koi pond. Low ceilings in the main house make rooms feel smaller, but helps keep them warmer on cold nights (which happens at this altitude). All rooms have tvs and dvd players, some rooms have LED fireplace “artwork,” which feels a bit out of place—just for mood, really. Rooms (275–500 sq. ft.) are $140–$399. Check for specials.

They also have other properties off-site. Volcano Hale has 6 small simple rooms with tvs, free Wi-Fi and computers, shared baths, kitchen and living area for $69–$89 (good for those on a budget), the 5-room Lokahi Lodge is also a good deal at $125–$185 and has larger rooms with baths, shared kitchen, living area, free Wi-Fi and computers,, maid service every third day and hot tub. All renters may enjoy facilities at the Chalet, like the afternoon tea and breakfast. Call them for a complete price list of all their other properties.
