The best selling guide to Kaua'i... The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook: "Your travel guides are excellent and clearly outpace the competition. I have not seen any other book about Hawaii that would have the slightest chance to even come close. I explored all islands in 2000 for 4 weeks and shorter trips over the few last years with the help of all your books." |
Pono Kai Resort (800) 456-0009 or (808) 822-9831 4-1250 Kuhio Hwy. ![]() 241 units, 2 lighted tennis courts, pool and spa, 2 saunas, bbq, elevators, washer/dryer and a/c in most units, coin-op available, free fitness room, hi-speed Internet access, Wi-Fi cards available for a fee. Although it's a fairly old resort, the grounds are well cared for. Part timeshare, part vacation rental. Rates are quite reasonable for renovated rooms done in 2008. The results are clean, but the furnishings feel cheap and don't seem to be holding up well. Spring for the oceanfront (bldgs. A-D), if you can. 2-bedroom units have exceptionally large master bedrooms. If you get an oceanfront unit, note that first floor units will allow people walking by on the ocean path to look right into your room. If that's an issue, get one off the ground. Sounds between units seem to carry well. Studios (300 sq. ft.--building K only) are $125, partial kitchens (two rooms with a kitchenette--building K only) at 600 sq. ft. are $125, 1/1 units (740 sq. ft.) are $160-$205, 2/2 units (1,132 sq. ft.) are $179-$240. |
