"Your books are incredible! I really mean that. You give reviews of little hole in the wall restaurants that we would have never found and would have never given a chance if we did find them... and we have never been let down... Your book is better than a good friend on the island because that friend won't do the exhaustive research that you guys do. We go places where most tourists would never find... You probably get 100 of these e-mails a day from satisfied users. I hope you don't grow tired of them. Your product is simply the best. We love Hawaii and we wouldn't know one quarter as much as we do about the islands if we didn't have your books. Keep up the great work and thank you so much for making our vacations deeply rewarding."

190 rooms and 26 cottages, 2 pools, spa, restaurant, tennis court, room service, fitness room, free valet parking (when staffed), hi-speed Internet access in rooms, free Wi-Fi in lobby and lounge, volleyball, coin-op laundry, coffee maker with free coffee daily, empty refrigerator, bbq area. Located adjacent to Lydgate Park (the safest place to swim on the island—it also has a playground), this resort actively pursues families with children. (Sometimes they even catch ’em.) Kids under 12 can eat breakfast and dinner free with a paying adult at their restaurant. Overall, this place has a family-friendly feel. It was last renovated in 2008, and the rooms are clean, but not remarkable, and some of the common areas were looking a little worn on this visit. Rooms in Pikake Wing are larger (402 sq. ft.) than the Maile Wing (327 sq. ft.). Some rooms have bathtubs. No rooms have a lanai (except suites), which is unusual for a Kaua’i resort. The cottages are 510 sq. ft. These are a good value for families since they have a kitchenette, are very close to the Kamalani Playground, and have adjoining room options. They now charge a $10 “amenity fee” which includes local calls, coffee daily and a couple of other items.

Rates are $129–$199 for rooms, suites are $159–$259. 1/1 cottages are $209–309. They often run discounts like rooms starting at $99, which keep this a Solid Gold Value.
