The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook

It happens every time. The day after we send the disks off to the printers for our brand new edition, somebody changes something that directly affects what we write in the book. Several times we've e-mailed these changes to the printers (it's our only chance to yell that classic publisher line, "Stop the presses!") but after the presses roll we're left shaking our heads, saying, "Yeah, we know that changed. We'll correct that in our next printing." The internet is the next best thing to yanking back all the books in print and scribbling in the changes that always occur.

Timeshare Auto & U-Haul (page 21) is closed.

Grocery Guys (page 33) is closed.

The county recently decided to "fix" the enclosed ponds at Lydgate Beach Park (pages 28, 34, 66, 110, 178) by dredging the bottom to make them deeper. The result has been pretty disastrous to visibility and we'd recommend snorkelers avoid it for the time being.

Kipu Falls (pages 70 & 71) remains closed and the land owner does not allow access.

Country Moon Rising Bakery (page 71) sadly closed. Also closed is Men's Hardwear which was next door.

Hawai'i DLNR Division of State Parks (pages 124, 138 & 192) closed their Kaua'i offices to due budget cuts. Use the state parks website at hawaiistateparks.org for any information, permits and contacts on O'ahu.

Wings Over Kaua'i (page 138) changed their phone number to (808) 635-0815.

Da Life (page 139) moved to Lihu'e by Duke's Canoe Club and the new phone number is (808) 246-6333.

Princeville Ranch Stables (page 161) has a new phone number it's (808) 826– 7669.

Kaua'i Waterski & Surf Co. (pages 183 & 185) is no longer renting surf boards, and their waterski rate went up to $150/hour.

Princeville Tennis Club (at Makai Golf Course) on page 184, reservation number should be 808-826-1912.

Icing on the Cake (Island Dining chapter) was replaced by Cakes by Kristin no chance to review them yet.

Kauai Nut Roasters (Island Dining chapter and page 56) has moved to Ching Young Village in Hanalei. Same phone number.

Panda's Kitchen (Island Dining chapter) was replaced by the chain L&L Hawaiian BBQ.

Sheraton Kaua'i (Island Dining chapter) is not currently offering dinners for two on the beach.

Spicy Island Grill (Island Dining chapter) sold their truck so they are closed.

Sweet Marie's (Island Dining chapter) has moved to 3-3204 Kuhio Hwy in Lihu'e.

Tiki Room (Island Dining chapter) was replaced by the "Feral Pig"... haven't reviewed that one yet.

22° North (Island Dining chapter) changed their name back to Gaylord's and they changed their menu again.

Pacific Pizza & Deli (Island Dining chapter) owners retired and the place is closed. Wish them a find aloha. Also closed is Jailhouse Pub & Grill.
